Waratahs-Crusaders this Saturday

The NSW Waratahs are back on home turf and are set to take on the nine-time title winning Crusaders, this Saturday evening, March 22. A moment's silence will be observed prior to kick-off in recognition of recent events in Christchurch.

It will be an early season spectacular, as the Tahs face their fierce rivals at the SCG for the first time. The Crusaders have won 14 of their last 16 Super Rugby games against the NSW Waratahs; however, 10 of those 16 games were decided by a single-figure margin.

With two wins and two losses to start of the season, the Waratahs will look to make this match count and claim top spot in the Australian conference when they meet on Saturday night.

The game will feature two changes to the starting XV in Nick Phipps and Cam Clark. Phipps made his 2019 Super Rugby return off the bench last weekend after missing the first three games due to injury, with Clark earning a start on the right wing.

Also returning to the 23-man squad is Michael Wells, who recently arrived back in Australia after competing on the international circuit with the Australian Sevens squad.

Star back Folau, says the Waratahs backline needs to step up against the powerhouse.

''Looking at our backs, there's so much talent out there,” he said. “We're probably expecting it too much in trying to gain those metres. But I have a real belief in our forwards to physically play the game upfront and build that platform and foundation to go out wide.''

This match is always a spectacle, and one of the Waratahs’ final two games scheduled at the ground. Fans can pre-purchase tickets online via Ticketek here.
