U2 bring their Joshua Tree tour to the SCG
Irish supergroup U2 will join one of the most exclusive clubs in the entertainment world when the play a concert at the Sydney Cricket Ground on November 22 in front of a sell-out crowd.
It will be the first standalone concert on the SCG field of play since Sound Relief in 2009 and sees U2 join a long list of decorated acts to have performed at the venue including Madonna, The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, Prince and Bruce Springsteen.
“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see an iconic band at an iconic venue,” said Sydney Cricket and Sports Grounds Chief Executive Kerrie Mather.
“U2 will join an exclusive club of world class artists that have performed at the SCG dating back to when Prince played the first-ever concert at the ground in 1992.
“The SCG has always been a multi-purpose venue and a mega-act like U2 is the perfect way to welcome international music back to the ground while the SFS is rebuilt.
“Our history is defined by the events that we host and we look forward to working closely with Live Nation to ensure U2’s visit to the harbour city in November is an overwhelming success.”
The Joshua Tree Tour will be a celebration of the band’s seminal album with special guest Noel Gallagher confirmed as a support act. For complete tour and ticket information, visit: www.u2.com
