Sydney FC to call SCG home

Sydney FC will play four blockbuster home games at the SCG as part of the 2018-19 Hyundai A-League season while Allianz Stadium undergoes its redevelopment.

The historic ground will host the club’s biggest games, beginning with a cross-town derby against the Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday, October 27.

The Sky Blues will return to the ground on March 16 for a match against Melbourne City before taking on rivals Melbourne Victory on April 6 and Perth Glory on April 18.

It will be football's first outing at the SCG since 1985 when the Socceroos lost to Brazilian club Vasco da Gama 1-0, breaking a two-year unbeaten home record against touring club teams for Australia.

As part of an exciting initiative for football fans, Sydney FC will play east to west at the SCG allowing fans to have the best seats in the house at the oval ground.

“I think playing at the more enclosed stadiums at Kogarah and Leichhardt will provide for an excellent atmosphere and will work to our advantage, while the hosting of our bigger derby fixtures at the SCG will be a new and fantastic experience in which we will thrive,” said Sydney FC Head Coach Steve Corica.

Sydney FC will begin their season against Adelaide United on October 19.
