Sydney Sixers welcome fifth home game

The Sydney Sixers will welcome a fifth home game to the SCG this season as the KFC Big Bash League expands its footprint from eight home and away games per season to ten.

The club will also host three Rebel Women’s Big Bash League games as double headers at the SCG. The Sixers' first fixture at the ground will be a replay of last year’s final against the Perth Scorchers on December 23.

This match is followed by another home game against the Strikers on December 28 before the Sixers hit the road against the Scorchers, Renegades and Hurricanes.

It’s then back to the SCG for the Sydney Smash on January 13 in front of what is likely to be another sellout crowd for the fixture.

“The Sydney Sixers have grown into one of the city’s sporting powerhouses and last year attracted an average crowd of 30,368 fans at the SCG, the second highest of any sporting club in NSW behind the Sydney Swans,” said SCG Trust Chief Executive Jamie Barkley.

“The addition of a fifth BBL game and a third WBBL game is a huge win for fans and completes a busy summer of cricket at the SCG, with the venue to host the New Year’s Test and a One-Day International against England as well as a T20 International against New Zealand.

“The Sydney Smash, which last year attracted a record women’s attendance at the ground, is one of the highlights on the NSW sporting calendar. We’re looking forward to welcoming back the Big Bash competition back to Moore Park.”

The Sixers will play their final two matches at the SCG against the Brisbane Heat on January 18 and the Melbourne Stars on January 23. Click here for the full draw.
