SCG launches new uniforms in time for Test

The Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground has launched its new uniform range ahead of the biggest event on the NSW sporting calendar in January, the New Year’s Test.
More than 500 staff across customer service, crowd safety, grounds and maintenance will be sporting the new look, with the uniforms unveiled at a fashion show hosted at the SCG last week.
The SCG partnered with the Total Image Group, the official supplier for the Australian Winter Olympic Team, to create the custom kit for venue staff.
“We launched our new uniforms with the tag “stitched in history” and that’s what it’s all about,” said SCG Trust Chief Executive Officer Kerrie Mather.
“We’re proud of our history and heritage, proud to host sports and fans from anywhere, and proud of our people.
“Our new uniforms will make their debut at the New Year’s Test, Sydney’s largest annual sporting event.
“But a big part of the reason for our new uniforms is because 2019 will be the SCG’s busiest since 1987 with the return of rugby league, rugby union and the A-League alongside a full season of Sydney Swans home games.
“Just as there are memorable moments in sport, there are also memorable moments in attending sport. We want fans to remember the great time they had at the SCG just as much as what happened on the field.”
Taking direction and inspiration from the SCG’s heritage, the signature design honours the venue’s sporting history with subtle references to rugby, cricket and 1930s fashion.
