Roosters draw released for 2019

The Sydney Roosters will call the SCG home in 2019 with a blockbuster matchup against the South Sydney Rabbitohs to kick off the NRL season on March 15.

The club will also play the Brisbane Broncos, St George Illawarra Dragons and Wests Tigers at the SCG with home games against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, Newcastle Knights, Gold Coast Titans, New Zealand Warriors and Penrith Panthers still to be announced at the venue.

It marks an exciting return to the iconic ground for the Roosters, who will look to call on their history at the venue in a bid to become the first team in more than 25 years to defend their title.

The Roosters are playing home games at the SCG while Allianz Stadium begins its redevelopment into a world class stadium of up to 45,000 seats, to be completed in 2022.

To preview the draw, we’ve taken a look at four key match ups. Trust Gold, Platinum and SCG members will have access to all games played at the venue.

Rabbitohs (Round 1, SCG): Another chapter in the book of feuds takes off with Angus Crichton pencilled in to take on his former club. How Crichton is acknowledged by Bunnies fans is anyone's guess given his deal is still yet to officially be announced by the Tricolours.

Broncos (Round 4, SCG): If the Roosters had a bogey team in 2018, the Broncos were it. Brisbane's two victories (28-22 in round 11 and 22-8 in round 24) against Trent Robinson's side were one Brisbane took plenty of confidence from. Roosters squad player Sean O'Sullivan could be Brisbane's halfback. Also, don't forget Dylan Napa's 2018 dramas in matches against the men from Brisbane.

Dragons (Round 7, SCG): One of the biggest days outside the NRL grand final and State of Origin, the Anzac Day clash is set for a move to the SCG in 2019. The blockbuster clash has become a must-see fixture on the calendar and is one of the game’s most celebrated occasions.

Bulldogs (Round 14, set to be at SCG): A great rivalry, but that has gone cold in recent seasons with the Roosters winning 10 of the last 13 games between the sides. Brett Morris' summer move from Belmore to Bondi will provide another storyline.
