Former Test stars to feature for SCG XI
Stuart MacGill, Mark Waugh, Brad Haddin and Stuart Clark will play for the SCG XI in the Batting for Bushfires cricket match on Friday, February 21.
The T20 match against a local XI will be played under lights at the newly-renovated Oxley Oval in Port Macquarie commencing 6.30pm.
Cricket fans are encouraged to make the trip to Port Macquarie as part of a wider effort to contribute to communities devastated by bushfire. Admission is free.
Former Australian and NSW cricket legend, Mark Waugh said he was excited to play in the Batting for Bushfires match and to meet the local community.
“The boys and I are excited to be joining the SCG XI in the Batting for Bushfires cricket match in Port Macquarie on 21 February,” said Mark Waugh.
“As a resident of regional NSW, I have seen firsthand the devastation caused by bushfires and the enormous challenge faced by communities to rebuild their lives.
“I encourage cricket fans to make the trip to Port Macquarie to help lift the community spirit and contribute dollars to the local economy.”
Fellow former Australian cricketer Stuart Clark said, “I am excited to be travelling up to Port Macquarie to have a game of cricket. It has been a few years, but it is always good fun. If it can help lift the community spirit, then I am all in and looking forward to the night.”
