Tiger Trio help bring home the silverware

Tigers Ananaya Sharma, Olivia Maxwell and Sinduja Sureshkumar (pictured above) recently represented NSW Metro in the Under 15 National Championships in the ACT. The 7 day tournament saw NSW Metro side defeat their state counterparts ACT/NSW Country in a thrilling final at Phillip Oval in Canberra.

After winning the toss, the NSW Metro skipper Claire Moore elected to bat as they went on to produce arguably their worst batting performance of the tournament managing 141 from their 36 overs. This was the first time NSW Metro hadn't completed their allotted 40 overs when batting first. However a strong bowling performance and runs on the board in a final proved the difference as NSW Metro bowled ACT/NSW Country out for 116.

Our Tigers had a fantastic tournament with some strong individual performances contributing the NSW Metro's undefeated tournament. Ananaya Sharma was a destroyer with the ball in hand claiming 11 wickets for the tournament with an average of 10.5. Her best figures were an astonishing 4-12 against South Australia in Round 7 of the competition.

Olivia Maxwell also had a strong tournament, often going in with few over remaining and requiring quick runs, Olivia contributed 80 runs at an average of 16. Olivia's most notable innings was smashing 27 from 20 runs in the final overs of the competition opener against Tasmania.

Keeper, Sinduja Sureshkumar didn't get many opportunities with the bat however was extremely solid behind the stumps the entire tournament. Sinduja amassed 6 dismissals for the tournament including 2 catches, 2 run outs and 2 stumpings.

Overall it was a great tournament for the Tigers girls - we look forward to having them back in Tigers colours shortly!
