Tigers kick off U15s competition with a bang
Sunday saw the commencement of the new U15s Women's competition, with the Tigers kicking it off with a victory against Bankstown, whilst our Brewer Shield side returned to their winnings ways against Manly-Warringah.
First Grade went to down in a relatively high scoring contest against St George-Sutherland at Hurstville Oval on Sunday. Batting first the Tigers posted 7/217, with skipper Kate Jackson top scoring with 55no. Synetta Manns provided good support for her skipper from the other end with a better than run-a-ball 52. In reply, the Tigers were unable to contain a strong opposition top order, with St George-Sutherland chasing the target just 2 wickets down.
Second Grade faced off against Gordon at Killara Park and went down in a disappointing batting effort. Batting first, Gordon posted 166, with Caitlin Caldwell (4/24) and Kylie Hocknell (3/21) taking the bulk of the wickets. The Tigers innings never got going in reply, being dismissed for just 84, with Hocknell top scoring with 23.
Brewer Shield returned to winnings form by claiming a much needed victory against Manly-Warringah at Manly Oval. Batting first, the Tigers were dismissed for 109 with wicket keeper Sinduja Sureshkumar (35) top scoring at the top of the order. The Manly-Warringah batting line up was dismantled by Ananaya Sharma who claimed an outstanding 5 wicket haul (5/14), dismissing the opposition for 84 to claim victory!
The commencement of the new U15s competition saw the Tigers take on Bankstown at Ryde Oval. The Tigers restricted Bankstown to 4/94 at the conclusion of the 35 over innings. In reply, the Rampants chased the target 8 wickets down with 2 wickets in hand in a tight contest. Wicket keeper Hayley Zauch carried her bat through the entire innings to lead the Tigers home in top scoring with 29no.
