Semi-Finals await for First and Second Grade
In a weather-affected weekend, the Tigers came out on top with both First and Second Grade advancing through to the Semi-Finals.
At North Sydney Oval, First Grade were sent in to bat by UTS North Sydney on an overcast day. The Tigers top order lost wickets at regular intevrals to fall to 5/91, before 'iceman' Beau McClintock came to the crease. Beau led from the front top scoring with 71 to continue his late season run of form with the bat, before his dismissal saw the Tigers all out for 200. With conditions still suiting the bowlers late on day one, the Tigers fast bowlers claimed 3 crucial wickets before the close of play. Unfortunately the wet weather claimed day two, which saw the game end in a draw, with the Tigers advancing through to the Semi-Finals, where they will face off against Minor Premiers Sydney University.
At Drummoyne Oval, Second Grade won the toss and sent Bankstown in to bat. A rampant attack ripped through the Bankstown batting line up, with fast bowlers Nick Govers and Cameron Holmes each claiming 3 wickets, whilst spinner Ash Squire and Ben Mitchell claimed 2 scalps apiece. Chasing just 90 for a first innings lead on day one, Liam Gibson (53no) took charge and ensured victory for the Tigers, with the score at 1/100 at the close of play. Day two was also claimed by the rain, with the game ending in a first innings victory for the Tigers. Second Grade will now face Parramatta at Old Kings Oval this weekend in the Semi-Finals.
A tough weekend of cricket awaits, with a spot in the big dance up for grabs for both teams. An exciting weekend of cricket to come...
