Green Shield undefeated heading into finals

After a well-earned Christmas break, the young Green Shield Tigers have come back and finished the regular season off strongly, finishing 3rd on the ladder, undefeated with 6 wins and 1 draw. An outstanding effort by the young Tigers!

Round 4 saw the Tigers head to Joe McAleer to take on Blacktown in a top of the table clash. Bowling first, the young cubs restricted Blacktown to 9/194 at the end of the 50 overs. Young left-arm quick Ellis Sherriff led from the front claiming 3/11 off 9 overs! Ellis was well supported by James Threlkeld who returned figures of 3/35. Unfortunately rain claimed the remainder of the day with the fixture washed out and the game drawn without the the Tigers getting the chance to face a ball.

Round 5 saw the Tigers take on Sydney University at University Oval, with the Tigers restricting Uni to 7/135 at the end of the 50 overs. Young leg-spinner Anay Baruah was the chief destroyer claiming 3/24 off his 10 overs, including 4 maidens. In reply, the Tigers chased the target 5 wickets down, with Josh Yeoh (37no) anchoring the innings, playing an important knock to get his side over the line.

Round 6 was a close contest between the young Tigers and Wests at Pratten Park. Wests batted first, reaching 138 before being dismissed. Harrison Townsend, James Threlkeld and Anay Baruah each picked up 2 wickets, with Kshitij Cyril cleaning up the tailed with 3/3 off just 1.1 overs! In reply, the Tigers chased the total 8 wickets down in the second last over, with Cyril again leading from the front at the top of the order with 47.

Round 7 saw the Tigers travel to Waverley Oval to take on Eastern Suburbs for the final regular season fixture. After winning the toss and batting first, the young cubs amassed 9/206 at the conclusion of the 50 overs. Josh Yeoh continued his form with the bat, leading from the front with 80 off 100 balls. Scoreboard pressure allowed the Tigers to attack with the ball, which saw them take a flurry of wickets to claim victory. Easts were travelling well at 4/133, before the Tigers struck to dismiss the opposition for 160. Ellis Sherriff again led from the front claiming 3/22, whilst Kshitij Cyril and Anay Baruah each claimed 2 wickets.

The undefeated side will now face Blacktown at Hurstville Oval in the Qualifying Finals!
