Crawley goes big in record breaking knock
A strong crowd turned out at Drummoyne Oval on Sunday to see the Men's T20 squad take on Sutherland in the semi-final of the Kingsgrove Sport T20 competition. After winning the toss and batting first, the Tigers amassed 5/198 at the conclusion of their 20 overs. Skipper Daniel Smith got the innings off to a flying start before being dismissed for 38 off 21 balls. Young overseas player Zak Crawley then took to the Sutherland attack smashing 100no off 42 balls in what is now the fastest century in the Kingsgrove Sport T20 Cup! Zak ensured the final overs went the distance, sending 9 balls over the boundary and reaching his century on the second last ball of the innings. An outstanding knock from Zak, which was exciting for all at the ground to witness! In reply, Sutherland dominated from the outset, with Steve Smith top scoring with 61 off 33 balls. Off-spinner Ben Manenti bowled extremely well at crucial points throughout the innings and finished with tidy figures of 3/31 off his 4 overs. Unfortunately it wasn't meant to be for the Tigers in their quest for back-to-back T20 crowns, with Sutherland claiming victory in the final over of the game in the massive run chase.
