Club Captain Alyssa Healy motivates teammates
Women's Club Captain, Alyssa Healy, has shared her sentiments with the Women's club around the recent CNSW academy squad selection. Sydney Cricket Club recently had 19 players selected in CNSW Female Pathway teams and academy squads.
"It is so impressive and great work by all of the clubs in the district and the coaching programs at Drummoyne (Oval) bringing more players into NSW Cricket." said Healy.
Healy also reflected on her experiences coming through the ranks and how important knowing that you have done the preparation and training for the high pressure situations. "Enjoy the experience as the standard of cricket and competition hots up; it is where your practice now becomes so important" stated Healy.
The 29 year old Women's National Player of the Year, made special note to the Women's Premier Cricket competition and the importance of continually performing at this level. "Keep working on your skills, performances in Premier Cricket count and opportunities are there for the taking." said Healy. "Stay positive, support your teammates, enjoy the challenge and train hard, our Tigers coaches and programs are highly regarded and in place to develop players across our district."

Wow - looking across all representative CNSW squads, how good is it to see the number of Tigers players now making the selections. It is so impressive and great work by all of the clubs in the district and the coaching programs at Drummoyne bringing players into NSW Cricket. Enjoy the experience as the standard of cricket and competition hots up - it is where your practice now becomes so important.
Fantastic to see so many keepers - 1st Grade Wicket-keeper Alex Tims, Brewer Keeper, Sinduja Sureshkumar and U/15 keeper, Hayley Zauch all in the squads. Continues the tradition of Tiger keepers coming into top level cricket. Great to see - congratulations.
I see the U/18 Squads feature 5 Tigers - Congrats to Ananaya Sharma who made the 18s after such a successful U15 representative season in 2018/19, making the Australian Merit Squad and the Tigers Brewer Shield Player of the Year. Alex Tims, Nell Bryson-Smith, Hannah Faux and Ahilya Chandel all selected in consecutive years of elite cricket - great to see. Sinduja Sureshkumar, Lilly Hodge and Lily Dummett were selected in the U17 Academy squad.
The Tigers Brewer Shield Team of 2018/19 has a strong contingent in the U15 CNSW Squad with Tigers Captain Eva Ragg, Grace Bryson-Smith, Olivia Maxwell, Sonya Kalachian, Samira Dimeglio and Laura Metry all gaining selection through a tough trial process.
The U15 Premier team was also well represented with Tigers Captain Daisy Webster in the U15 Academy squad and Hayley Zauch, Pieta McMillan, Skye Halmarick and Urooj Alam all gaining selection in the U13 academy squad - it was great to meet the girls and watch first hand some of their cricket last season. All the best as you continue to grow and develop your game - so much opportunity ahead.
With every success there is disappointment in sport - several players were very close to selection, in particular, some of our top end Brewer Shield players - Sophia Hadwen, Lily Campbell, Alannah Hungerford and Gemma Lockhart - all have now been playing for a couple of years and developing nicely, coming from Russel and Greg. We have all been there a number of times. Keep working on your skills, performances in Premier Cricket count and opportunities are there for the taking. Stay positive, support your team mates, enjoy the challenge and train hard - our Tigers coaches and programs are again highly regarded and in place to develop more players across our district. I look forward to seeing your progress in Tigers colours. Congratulations on such a great contribution to Cricket NSW.
