Brewer Shield commences, as Women's T20 go down
The Brewer Shield season commenced on Sunday against Northern District Blue, with the Tigers unfortunately going down in their first game. The Women's T20 squad also went down in a tough contest against St George-Sutherland.
After winning the toss and batting first, a young Brewer Shield squad managed to post 8/122 at the conclusion of their 40 overs. Grace Bryson-Smith led the way for the Tigers top scoring with 46 off 67 balls. Grace was well supported throughout the innings by opener Alannah Hungerford (17) and Lily Campbell (12). In reply, Northern Districts chased the target down, despite the efforts of Laura Metry (4/29) and Gemma Lockhart (3/10).
At Glenn McGrath Oval, the women's T20 squad also batted first, though only managed to reach 9/70 at the conclusion of their 20 overs. Synetta Manns top scored for the Tigers with 23 off 24 balls. St George-Sutherland chased the total down comfortably inside 16 overs only 2 wickets down in a disappointing day for the Tigers.
