Big victories for Women's T20 and Brewer Shield
Sunday saw both the Women's T20 squad and Brewer Shield bounce back from their respective defeats last weekend in emphatic style. Both squads amassed dominant victories, with the T20 squad defeating Penrith and Brewer Shield defeating UTS North Sydney.
After winning the toss and batting first at Howell Oval, the T20 squad reached a strong total of 2/153 off their 20 overs, setting Penrith a tough chase. Jodie Hicks led the charge for the Tigers top scoring with 72, whilst Anita Handono provided valuable support throughout the innings with a well made 44. The Tigers did an excellent job defending the total, restricting Penrith to 9/108 at the end of their 20 overs. Lilly Dummett was in outstanding form with the ball claiming 4/6, including a hat trick! A very dominant victory for the Tigers sees the T20 squad sit well on the ladder with 3 wins and 2 losses.
At Drummoyne Oval, the Brewer Shield squad put on a show amassing 1/306! Centurions Samira Dimeglio (103rtno) and Ananaya Sharma (100rtno) batted with class in an enormous partnership that took the game away from the opposition. Samira and Ananaya pulled the game heavily in the Tiger's favour, with skipper Eva Ragg (59no) finishing off the innings in style. In reply, the Tigers restricted UTS North Sydney to 7/89 at the conclusion of their 40 overs, with Sonya Kalachian (3/6) and Grace Bryson-Smith (2/13) the chief destroyers for the Rampants.
A great day of cricket for the Tigers and a great bounce back for both squads!
