Another big win for Men's T20 squad
Sunday saw the Men's T20 squad pull off a dominant victory to continue their winning run in the short format. Away from home, the Tigers dominated a Newcastle side who had previously beaten Mosman earlier in the day. Bowling first, the Tigers were on top from the first over of the day, claiming two wickets in the first over of the Newcastle innings. The bowling innings saw a total of 3 maidens bowled in dismissing Newcastle for the low total of 69. All the bowlers played their part to have the opposition 8/29, before a minor lower-order recovery saw Newcastle reach 69. Quicks Nic Bills (1/13 off 4 overs, 1 maiden) and Ryan Felsch (1/12 off 3 overs, 1 maiden) spearheaded a Rampant bowling unit, with spinners Ben Mitchell (2/16 off 4 overs, 1 maiden), Ben Manenti (3/16 off 4 overs) and Ryan Corns (1/7 off 4 overs, 1 maiden) producing economical spells of bowling to ensure wickets were taken at regular intervals. In reply, skipper Dan Smith (39 off 21 balls) ensured the Tigers finished 2/72, chasing down the modest target inside 7 overs in capping off yet another dominant T20 victory.
The Tigers remain at the top of the Sydney Sixers Conference, with a clash against Mosman Cricket Club this Sunday at Allan Border Oval to come. A win will confirm a spot in the finals for the Rampants, as they look to defend their T20 crown.
