A record crowd for domestic, non finals football was set at Aussie Stadium when 25,208 fans cheered Sydney FC's debut game in the A-League. At kick off over 15,000 fans were inside the ground. After 20mins into the match the gates were opened allowing the remaining 1600 fans in for free. This is only the second time in history that the Trust had opened the gates to an event, (the first was the World Series Cricket at the SCG in 1978). Sydney FC drew with Melbourne Victory 1-1. |
