14 March 2009 More than 40,000 fans flocked to the SCG for Sound Relief, a twin musical extravaganza staged at the SCG and MCG, which raised over $5 million for the victims of the Victorian bushfire and Queensland floods. The day started when British group Coldplay, opened the concert with a dynamic set that included a guest appearance from John Farnham. They were followed by a star-studded list including Eskimo Joe, Jet, Josh Pyke, The Presets, Wolfmother, and Barry Gibb and Olivia Newton-John.

28 October 2007 NSW captain, Simon Katich, became the first batsman since Sir Donald Bradman in 1929-30 to hit a triple century at the SCG, during the Pura Cup match against Queensland, 26-29 October 2007. Katich plundered 30 boundaries and nine sixes in an innings of 306 as he and wicket keeper Brad Haddin blasted 334 runs in a superb fifth wicket partnership.

2 September 2007 The SCG hosts its 300th AFL/VFL game in history. The Sydney Swans 22.9.(141) defeated Hawthorn 10.9.(69), qualifying for the 2007 Finals. The game also saw Jared Crouch achieve his 200th game career milestone.

8 July 2007 Four Sydney Swans achieved major career milestones in their round 14 clash against Fremantle at the SCG. Michael O'Loughlin played his 261st game, breaking the South Melbourne / Sydney Swans club record held by John Rantall. Adam Goodes played his 200th senior game. Peter Everitt achieved AFL life membership on playing his 300th game (including pre-season, state of origin, and international appearances). Sean Dempster played his 50th senior game.

4 January 2007 The Australian cricket team created history and bid farewell to Glenn McGrath, Shane Warne and Justin Langer during the fifth Ashes Test Match. Australia’s 10-wicket win completed a 5-0 series victory and became the first team in 86 years to complete an Ashes Series whitewash. McGrath captured a wicket with his final ball in Test cricket, and a month later completed the same feat in his final One Day International match for Australia at the SCG.

9 April 2006 The Sydney Swans’ 2005 AFL Premiership winning flag was unfurled at the SCG prior to the opening home match of the 2006 season against Port Adelaide and flew proudly atop the Members Pavilion in a day of great ceremony and pride.

2-6 January 2006 Ricky Ponting re-wrote the record books when hitting twin centuries in his 100th Test match as his team crushed South Africa by eight wickets in the third Test against South Africa. Ponting scored 120 in the first innings and 143 not out in the second innings. Ponting became the first player to score a hundred in each innings in his 100th Test and along the way became the highest run scorer at the SCG surpassing Allan Border (1177 runs at 56.05), Greg Chappell (1150 runs at 63.89).

9 September 2005 Nick Davis kicked four goals in the last quarter, the final goal with only seconds remaining, to defeat Geelong in a semi-final at the SCG. The Swans marched on to reach the Grand Final and ultimately beat West Coast by four points for the club to win its first premiership since 1933.

29/01/2005 Approximately 50,000 people packed the SCG for Waveaid - the Tsunami relief concert. Organised by the Australian Music Industry, the concert raised $2.3m for the victims of the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami.

2-6 January 2004 Australia v India in the Fourth Test - Steve Waugh's final match in international cricket commenced amid an emotional avalanche of support from his home town fans. The first three days of the match were sold out in advance.

2-6 January 2003 Australian skipper, Steve Waugh, overcame intense speculation about his future in the Australian Test team by completing a brilliant century from the final ball of play on Day 2 of the Ashes Test. 3 January 1993 Alan Border scored his 10,000th run in Test Cricket in the Third Test against the West Indies.

5 February 1938 The Empire Games, now known as the Commonwealth Games, were staged at the SCG with Australian Decima Norman winning five gold medals.

3 February 1933 South Australian, Tim Wall, took all ten wickets in a Sheffield Shield game against NSW. His bowling performance of 10 for 38 is the best individual bowling performance in the history of Australian first-class cricket.

6 January 1930 Don Bradman completed the highest individual innings in Australian cricket in scoring 452 not out for NSW against Queensland.

2 January 1928 Don Bradman batted for the first time on the SCG in a first-class cricket game. Playing for NSW against Queensland and batting at number 8, he was bowled by the first ball he recieved by FJ Gough for a duck. He finished his first-class career with a batting average of 91.46 from from all first-class appearances on the SCG.

11 December 1926 NSW batsman, Archie Jackson, became the youngest Australian first-class cricketer to score a century on debut. He scored 100 against Queensland aged 17 years 97 days.

22 June 1911 The first rugby league game was played on the SCG.

3 March 1911 Australia and South Africa played in their first test at the SCG

15 August 1903 New Zealand played Australia for the first time in a rugby international on the SCG. New Zealand won the game 23-3.

29 December 1902 NSW bowler Tommy Howard finished the Queensland second innings by dismissing the last 4 batsmen with 5 consecutive deliveries - the first instance of this achievement on SCG soil. South Australia pace bowler Denis Hickey achieved the other instance against the touring Englishmen at the Adelaide Oval in season 1990-91.

8 January 1901 NSW were all out for 918 in their Sheffield Shield game against South Australia. In the innings five batsmen registered a century. This is an Australian record for the number of centuries in a first-class innings.

24 June 1899 In their first ever rugby union international, Australia defeated Great Britain 13-3 at the SCG. The Australians wore the sky blue of New South Wales complete with the Australian crest. The team became known as the 'Wallabies' in 1909.

25 January 1895 NSW batsman, Victor Trumper, debuted in a first-class game at the SCG when NSW played AE Stoddart's England XI. He scored 5 in the first innings and was bowled for a duck in the second.

7 January 1893 NSW and South Australia participated in the first Sheffield Shield game on the SCG.

4-7 December 1891 NSW and Lord Sheffield's England XI played in just one of three games where the number of balls bowled per over was five. The others were NSW v Tasmania, 9-12 December 1898 at the SCG and Tasmania v Victoria, 26-30 January 1899 in Hobart.

6 August 1881 NSW played Victoria in an Australian Rules football match, which was the first inter-colonial (State of Origin) football match ever played at the SCG. Victoria won 9.16 (70) to 1.8 (14).
